Sunny Punny Stupid

I listened to a message left on my voice mail from that wonderful
bunch of computer mad people who need power for paper tests. The guy
said the interview would need to be postponed because the power was
going to go off. last time i was there, i asked him to please print
the test so that in case there is no power i can still write it.
Alas... This guy doesnt realise that you can print a page or two
with power an hour or three before you need the page. One reason i
wont work there... I rate they're too silly to work a type-writer.
Skype and a webcam is fun to use..but the problem i have is that my
microphone only works in linux... I even tried on a fresh install of
windows...
I took degoran a while ago, but my nose has just dripped thrice on
my shirt....
12 hours ago i was in bed. I trust thats why i'm feeling better and am
starting to drift off to sleep!?
Meow, i wanted to fix things this weekend.. looks like next week may
be a better option...

This is the subject line..

This morning I woke up to a sore throat, sniffy nose and no alarm clock.

I even took my gum boots along, but forgot they were in the car and stood in a puddle of water when I left this afternoon - aaaaaaa!!!!!!

Macros. Macros that are programmed in one office, should get run when in another office..or you shall see errors.
I managed to fix up some error in a formula - it relied on data from a hidden cell. I moved this formula to the VB editor and it worked so well that I went ahead to code something that says if, well case really, if a child is 3 years old they move into fireflies. there are 5 departments with differing age groups. I struggled getting the age into the function. the age is a float.. and I doubt that's the right term, long time since I played with non-integers like 7.8!

function dept(DoB As Date)
etc..
but i wanted to take a shortcut so i didnt have to work the age out again by doing,
function dept(Age())
etc..
but that didn't work, so I tried to call the age from the cell. the cell has =age(B##) ## being the row number. say it is 3.6. Now how do I address it in the function? like dept(ager As ????????) or just dept(ager) ?
I have never learnt VB, so I'm a real newbie!?!

it works, though I went the long way round - I re-calculated the age and used that number to switch between Creepy Crawlies, Fireflies, Sonflower Kids, Club 25, Coolbeans and Unknown. Unknown happens when there is no birth date given.

re made an appointment to see Sam about a job. This would be something I really enjoy - web page/site design..if his server only supports asp, I have a wee problem - I've never touched asp code.....

*sniff*
my Milo is ready.......

On my way out of the office I saw the poster that Riaan had asked me to move..I had clean forgotten about it - so I put down my bags and bowl, and moved the poster. When I took my things again, I remembered the Velcro strips - I will either get them tonight, or tomorrow after my meeting with Sam. I need to get the woolly side of Velcro - the notice boards in the office are so bad that one needs to hammer in a nail, or use a staple gun to affix anything onto it.

ahh yes! I need R250 with me tonight - petrol and the fire wire card from Karen...

Thanks for reading,
Me...(who else?!?)

Dear Blog...

Today it are very looking wet and I are too looking silly in the video...

I think it would be a good thing to invest in an umbrella - it is raining hard and I'm not looking forward to driving home.

I'm rather speechless when it comes to how my experience has been of the IGNITE programme..
Tho, I do have some things that slowly attempt to grate me:
Time, rain, food, sleep.......

On other fronts, I am keen to make a video - though I have starred in the FFIG videos, I'd like to attempt making a music video.

OH MY!!!?!

We did a video where Bruce smashed up his old laptop (I salvaged what I could before-hand) and this laptop looks real messed. Now from where I'm sitting, I can see the dance students arriving outside. They walk right by the carcase of the laptop and the expressions on people's faces are mesmerising....

I wonder what a bit of candid camera work could do for the office - a shoebox, webcam, long usb cable, etc... and a phone call to speak to Bob, or a remote screen of another computer, or the like.

and I think I just wasted time doing something silly...

ok..no more rain
and I'm still looking for something other than EMO...

Devotions done, prepare in sleep for the day tomorrow...

and Linux is not the same since i lost the last install on a broken disk...

oh well..
I put up with the music the other ignite guys play, so they can put up with the music i like for my devotions/praise & worship slot!?!

it took time to do this and now i'm a bit more than wasted....

i cant think no more

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

the way i feel

if only i could show you, but yeah - i'm totally wasted

and i gotta prepare devotions, but i'll boot into linux, cuz this windows is really REALLY slow..
took me fifteen minutes to get to the point of windows showing internet explorer is running instead of firefox..but i'm using firefox right now.

kay bye
zzzzzzz

thort for the hour

um..i don't like emo... it is too sad and depressing.
what else is opposite to being happy and wearing super bright colours all the time?

Week 2, Part 9

emo........
Imagine me emo...
Just think about it.......

the theme for youth this Friday is opposites, but not like me going queen style, cus that's just wrong..never mind the other consequences.....
yeah, I joked with Aubrey and Daniel when they suggested me going emo for a day - wonder what they'd do if I really went out, bought temporary black hair dye, used mascara and wore black..black arm bands..ewewee....

I'll think of something?!?

No real highlight of the week, just the deep low light with the interview - I applied for a sales position, but got interviewed as if for a techie position.
and they needed power so that i could write a paper test 45 minutes after the time i was told to come back...
A: I wont go buying anything from them in a loooooong while;
B: I wont go asking for a job there either...

The other morning I had the chance to really go off the path, but I have learned perseverance and if I do anything like I wanted to do, I'll be shot and 'fired' from Ignite -- praise God, I didn't do it!

I was going to go to art on Saturday, but I over slept and my sketch pad got wet...in the car :o(

I thought of a good video us Ignite guys could do..to Overdue by Tree63.
Washed a kiddie's hands, helped a child build a puzzle -- left my comfort zone miles behind me.....

and guess what?!
I'm managing a tuck shop too! but it's tiny compared to the one I ran at St. Alban's College..

on a side platter, I rate this blog is not gonna be as regular as I hoped it would - I have brilliant things to say, but when i find the time to say them and open my mail to compose a message to send, I forget everything and sit in front of the computer for 10 minutes before only slightly remembering what I was meant to right down..oh, and my spelling of write sucks hey?

Week 2, part 1

this week has been good so far.
Yesterday I got bored with no phone calls to the office (I was on the
switchboard), so I looked in the yellow pages and called all the pc
places for a quote...

I'm full of quotes...pc quotes!

This morning I went for a ride and fell in a most funny way - I saw
the hole in the ground, but I still went into it and fell forward -
must have looked extremely funny!?!

Phoning people about quotes can get entertaining... oh yes, and I am
going for a part-time job interview on Friday morning at 11!!

I'm hungry again...

End of part 1

Monday 14 January 2008

Monday from eskom

whoo hoo!!
no power, but Eastside has a generator and it makes life easier!

Monday mornings mean staff meeting!
this is the highlight of the week, as, well, i think you just need to be there and experience one for yourself... it is full of laughter, serious most of the time - without that meeting, you will be lost for the entire week!

Contrary to popular opinion, i have never done a weekly plan for myself. we are expected to complete a plan every monday. not that easy, but i hope it will be easy in a few weeks time.

at looong last, we're starting an exercise programme - running round the campus, looking for places to push, press, sit, etc. -up - there's also a huge stamper with weights on both ends to use as a watchamicalit!?!
according to Bruce, he shall be the guy lagging behind, but i'm quite sure i'll be the lag!

right, my food is finished and now i'll go bump my head in the dark room that adjoins the church hall...

Day [I cant count]

These past few days have been a blast!
Well, besides the computer having the infamous blue screens OD,
performing acrobatics in the roof space to route speaker-cables had me
sweating like a pig -- I also discovered why my dad has been badgering
me about gym...

One thing I did notice God being totally trusted in was the U*th on
Friday night. I'm not involved in youth anymore, so I guess it gave me
a chance to see U*th from the outside in and not the inside out --
when I came back from getting pie (chicken mayo pie from Engen), the
youth were playing a game outside. There must have been at least 40
young people.
Brilliant God!

Praise God!
I managed to finish extending power cables for the three sound-systems
in the ministry rooms.
Finished the one in Club25 5 minutes before U*th started!
--- Soldering cables in mid-air and receiving help from someone with
shaky hands, with me being shaky too, is not that easy... but tinning
the wires before-hand really helps.

This week I went to The Lamphouse and got a freebie - a rosco
e-colour+ sample thingie-ma-jig! As well as a few more contacts
regarding stage-lighting.

Starred in the FFIG trailer - its on facebook @
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=8775337370 and regretted not
threatening the computer with a de-soldering tool and a soldering iron
- "I cant take this anymore...", was my only line.....

Today was a day of rest. I went to art from 10:30 to 13:30, handed
back a key, came home and jumped into bed to sleep for 10 minutes - 3
hours really!

Gonna attempt to fix a dongle.......

Monday gonna meet with Catherine, the Children's Pastor.
Oh, and tomorrow ... oh dear ... I forgot to memorize the pledge -
It's gonna be hectic!?!

riding and getting wet was fun - drove to midrand, soldered and did a
few non-important-things-to-list things...

[basically, i'm too lazy to do this]

Day one

wow - getting up when it's cold and wet, driving in the rain, getting
into the office in wet conditions, etc.. was no easy task - but I
managed it!

My first task was to arrange an office, then to get computers talking
to the net, and then get a computer working...i think i'll reinstall
the whole thing - cant figure it out and dont have time to figure the
silly thing out...

finally, i think i made a boo-boo - i let slip that i have an IT
engineering dip. with distinction to Carol and Fransie..... let the
games begin?!?!!

ok, i challenged everyone and myself to a cycle at 7:30 tomorrow
morning - gotta run

This may turn out to be a long drive...

Take the Ben Schoeman towards JHB... We almost went to Krugersdorp!
I'm driving in the back with 2007 matriculants who hate highways.....
Eish?!!
I'm not complaining, i just hope we get to the campsite in only one
piece and not many. 27 km to JHB. Many trucks, but really quiet
compared to the highways i have driven.
Right, i'm gonna sign out..

The night before Ignite

What a rhyme hey?

Well, I ran out of time and outlook did me no favours - I sent off
loads of mail, but it just sat there and made like a rock and uhm,
sat...forever, until i moved it with the Del key!

So I used gmail online and sent the message to everyone - groot
apologies to everyone.

With no more time to spare, I gotta pack and pray and sleep by 10pm.

Praise be to Jesus, I'm gonna start working for God tomorrow!!
