If I dont get back...

Later today, the Ignite team goes on a camp. Not a pansy camp, but a
survival camp..even tho we have tent, food, chair, etc. no
electricity, no running water. I expect fun and a good change in the
group dynamics. About the facebook fast, i dont even miss the place,
so dont know if I'll ever go back... I have 4 bags packed. 1 tent. 1
matress and gas. 1 paper bag. 1 rucksack. good day, i'm falling a
pleas... SMiLE

This is getting too funny for words

so now another guy says the server is too slow and gets guys to use static IPs..

sure, the games will lagggg if 3 people are copying files from several people at the same time.
oh, and i'm talking about kids here - no professionals here, except the guy who claims that the DHCP server is slowing the network down!

I'm not in the mood for a fight, so i'll let them mess around...

if i'm mistaken on how a dhcp server works, please someone do let me know:
client requests an ip;
server leases client an ip;
server and client never communicate again unless to request a renewal on the lease or to drop the leased ip.

LANs.....

So I was roped in to help with a new thing the youth got going at church - a LAN (playing network games with each other).

I setup a file server and DHCP server, which has worked well! I even got unrealIRCd on it, JuST for the fun of it - I was an IRC geek back in the day...
One of the guys (A) who should really slow down, runs about getting people connected. The guy he's trying to help (B) is wanting to connect to another pc. A, finds the ip address and remembers it as 247 instead of 244 in all his haste! Destination unreachable, but he can ping the server..so he changes network cables. Ye..I know... I just laughed!!

Then B gets frustrated and calls me. I find the replacement cable is a cross-over and not a straight-through. Get the old cable and connect to 244. One of the hub's ports is broken too... B is very happy!!

But hey! I'm enjoying helping these poor guys. It has been lots of fun, but now I gotta go home to sleep - I got lots of wood work to complete!!

Lightning and loud BANGS...

It is raining and there are supa bright flashes of light. I'm sure lightning flew across the sky directly above the shed, as the noise followed the flash in less than a second!!

Kinda worrying when I figure out the music system for the hold function of this PABX system is supa simple... Just press the Play button once, wait 5 seconds and press the Mode button twice - now HOLD has music and not awful SILENCE! When one transfers a call, then while someone is being transferred, they hear music!

Now it is not raining or lightninging and some speed mail has come for me. I think that is SATS, so I'm off to get it before the post office closes!

something bad happens when i'm hungry and without food for a long period of time...

well, i recently discovered what no food in my system does to me..and what happens if i get angry.

too late at night to explain the whole thing, but i'm gonna enjoy not doing what i normally do every now and then - not everyweek!
